As a consequence, like New York and Boston, the Champlain lake ports became important centers of Irish settlement. Vince Feeney outlines the importance of Lake Champlain to Irish emigration to America. Feeney is a long time adjunct professor of Irish history at UVM, author of numerous articles on Irish and Irish American history and currently completing a history of the Irish in Vermont.
